Cody’s 1st Haircut

Cody got his first haircut on New Year’s Day. At 15 months old he still didn’t have a lot of hair on top but the back was pretty long and crazy. It didn’t need much more than a little trim but I wanted to get it all evened out. He had some pretty funny facial expressions while I was cutting his hair. He was very interested in the clippers so I let him play with them for a minute.

2015-01-03 12.35.29

We let him sit on the counter so he could watch in the mirror

Apparently we are the only ones crazy enough to go to the park in the middle of December because LBA Park was deserted. But it wasn’t raining and it wasn’t that cold out so we took advantage and got some much needed fresh air.

IMG_20141215_201932

Skyler was insistent on making homemade marshmallows for the kids in his primary class for Christmas. Then the list of who he wanted to give them to kept growing. About 30 treat bags and 150 marshmallows later, we’re finally done!

I tried to get a cute picture of all 3 boys dressed up for church and this is what I got….Skyler smiling, Dylan pouting and Cody crying while stuffing marshmallows in his mouth. Also, it looks like Skyler’s arm has been amputated, lol

Merry Christmas from the ER! Cody woke up perfectly normal, developed a slight cough around 6 pm, we put him to bed around 8 pm, then he woke up around 10 pm coughing and wheezing and with a full blown case of Croup… AGAIN. Knowing how quickly it went from bad to worse last time and that his pediatrician’s office will be closed for Christmas we decided it was probably best just to head straight to the ER and get him the steroids that helped him last time. Poor guy! This isn’t quite how we planned on spending our Christmas Eve/ Christmas.

My guys all dressed up for church and wearing the ties they got for Christmas.

IMG_20141228_124230

Couldn’t decide if I wanted to make lemon meringue pie or chocolate covered caramels to take to our “pretend Christmas” dinner with Rich’s family, so I made both.

It takes a pretty awesome friend (Jodi) to deliver Cafe Rio to your house, especially when the closest one is an hour and a half away. It’s every bit as good as I remembered!

Status Updates from Facebook:

December 30- One good thing has come from having 3 sick kids for pretty much all of Winter Break, we’ve had lots of at home time to really focus on potty training with Dylan. I don’t want to jinx it but I think he’s finally figured it all out! Hooray! We’re on day 3 of no accidents! It’s about freakin’ time!

Christmas 2014

This Christmas was the first year we got a Christmas tree and decorated the house for Christmas. The boys were so excited when we were at the store picking out decorations and they decided that they wanted a tree for their bedroom, too. So, they picked out this little blue one and they couldn’t wait to get home and put ornaments on it.

The tree we got for our living room is also quite small but we just don’t have a lot of space in this house.

2014-12-07 18.34.25

Dylan was very excited to hang the ornament that he made with Grandma on the tree.

2014-12-07 18.39.31

2014-12-07 18.39.57

Cody loved taking the ornaments off of the tree! (You can always tell when Dylan picks out Cody’s clothes because they’re always orange)

2014-12-24 20.59.04

Cody and I got to spend Christmas Eve in the emergency room. He woke up perfectly normal, developed a slight cough around 6 pm, we put him to bed around 8 pm, then he woke up around 10 pm coughing and wheezing and with a full blown case of Croup… AGAIN. Knowing how quickly it went from bad to worse last time and that his pediatrician’s office would be closed for Christmas we decided it was probably best just to head straight to the ER and get him the steroids that helped him last time. Poor guy! This isn’t quite how we planned on spending our Christmas Eve/ Christmas. We were there from 11pm-3am but they were able to get him some medicine so that he wouldn’t be miserable all day on Christmas.

IMG_20141225_011628

Christmas morning!! The boys were very excited to get up early and open presents! Me…not so much. After being up all night with Cody I was exhausted! They managed to drag me out of bed around 8am so that they could rip into those babies.

The boys saw these Lego sets at Costco and begged for them but we told them “No.” Then, very sneakily, Rich distracted them in the store while I went and bought them and took them out to the car without the boys seeing me.

November Phone & Instagram Pictures

Here’s what we did in November…

On Halloween the boys saw one of their old buddies who used to go to church with us. He felt bad that he didn’t have any candy to give them so he gave them $20 and told them to go buy themselves some candy. They did exactly that the next day. We went to Target and bought the clearance Halloween candy and they spent exactly $20.

2014-11-01 10.44.58

2014-11-01 11.06.54

We went to Skyler’s school for the Veteran’s Day assembly

2014-11-05 14.55.54

I, once again, became obsessed with the beautiful colors of Fall

IMG_20141108_173600

It was haircut time and I had to cut Skyler’s hair quite a bit shorter than I normally do because he thought it would be fun to cut his own hair. He took a nice chunk right out of the front. At least his hair grows fast!

2014-11-09 09.15.51

We went out to dinner at Fujiyama and the boys LOVED it. They ate so much food! Even Cody, he ate the majority of my fried rice and a bunch of other stuff.

2014-11-11 18.30.28

2014-11-11 18.30.49

10 o’clock at night and this kid is wired. He is seriously cracking us up, though. He has this new thing that he’s doing where he makes this face along with a really funny noise then waits for us to laugh so that he can laugh and then he does it all again. Hilarious!

IMG_20141113_220129

We had some deer hanging out in our front yard one morning.

2014-11-17 11.05.52

Waiting for the school bus with these cute kids

2014-11-18 08.47.09

Rich surprised me and went and got me a caramel apple cider to keep me warm while we waited in the freezing cold for the school bus to come on my birthday morning.

2014-11-18 08.47.56

We went to El Gaucho with Chris & Christie for dinner the night before my birthday but Rich also made me a delicious dinner of chicken marsala on my birthday. I’m so spoiled!

2014-11-18 18.06.36

My only request for my birthday… coconut cupcakes from my favorite cupcake shop. I could have easily eaten the whole dozen by myself but I did share them.

IMG_20141118_155622

Rich was gone doing his Goruck challenge all night so these 3 crazies and I had a fun movie night, complete with all kinds of yummy snacks.

IMG_20141121_185615

Cody kept trying to steal his brother’s snacks so I had to get him his own bowl of popcorn and gummies.

IMG_20141121_185922

Dylan saw the sprinkles on top of our fridge and decided that he really wanted “sprinkle cookies”. He then proceeded to do everything he could think of to help out around the house all day. How could I say no?

IMG_20141124_212540

Cookie decorating requires serious concentration!

IMG_20141124_213418

Apparently, the stairs are a comfy place to nap. Who knew?

IMG_20141126_155213

These two really like riding on the horse together!

IMG_20141126_184212

It was just one of those go-out-to-breakfast kind of days

IMG_20141128_134616

We took the boys to Snowflake Lane in Bellevue. They thought it was pretty fun, especially the fake snow!

IMG_20141129_225040

IMG_20141129_225502

Snowflake Lane was fun but very cold! We enjoyed playing in the fake snow and then going and getting warmed up with some hot chocolate.

Status updates from Facebook-

November 3- I will not miss getting head butted in the nose repeatedly by Cody when he grows up! Man that hurts!

November 3- Thank you, Meagan, for your genius idea of ending Family Home Evening with a family dance party! The boys LOVED it!

November 13- Cody figured out how to climb up onto the couch all by himself yesterday. So, today he’s been using his new skill over and over all day long. Which also means he has fallen off the couch, head first, onto our hard floor at least 5 times today. His poor forehead is really red now!

November 19- Got to go to a private showing of Mockingjay with the girls tonight. So fun!

Cody’s 1st birthday! He continues to be our most high maintenance baby. He loves being out and about because he is very social and loves attention! He is also the best little snuggler and would be completely happy if I could just sit and hold him all day long. Happy Birthday, Cody!!!

All set up and ready for Cody’s birthday party

These boys REALLY wanted to eat the puppy from the top of Cody’s birthday cake. They had been begging to eat it all day. All 3 of them were very happy when I finally gave in! I personally think that fondant tastes gross but they seemed to really like it.

The boys enjoyed General Conference with a little Lego temple construction and some snoozing…

I got to the mall 15 minutes before the stores opened so Dylan & Cody got to enjoy a little play time before I dragged them from one store to the next. Cody LOVED going down the slide on his tummy! He did it over and over. It’s fun that he’s getting old enough to actually enjoy this kind of thing now!

We celebrated Jack’s 4th birthday at his dinosaur themed birthday party.

I got to go on Skyler’s 1st field trip with him. I was responsible for keeping track of these cute boys- Joey, Skyler & Jaxson. We had a great day!

Getting to stop at my favorite burger joint in Fife for burgers and shakes is the best part of heading to Bellevue at 4:30 in the afternoon with Rich. (He had after hours work to do and wanted to be able to use the car pool lane.)

Once again, Cody fell asleep while eating dinner.

We went to the Nelson’s house on Halloween night. They always open up their garage and make yummy scones for everyone. I hung out and visited while Rich took the boys trick-or-treating around their neighborhood.

Status updates from Facebook-

October 2- Dylan and I are both of the same opinion today that left over birthday cake is perfectly acceptable to eat for breakfast.

October 15- Of course it would have to be raining sideways today, the day that I’m babysitting my 6 month old nephew and therefore have to take 2 babies to the bus stop with me. Juggling 2 babies, an umbrella and a 3 year old who is freaking out because he’s getting wet… fun times! Luckily, my sweet neighbor took pity on me and took Cody off my hands.

October 16- So, apparently Cody hates broccoli. Twice this week when we’ve had it for dinner, he’s taken all of it off his tray and thrown it on the floor.

October 22- Cody HATES wearing socks and pulls them off as soon as I put them on, so his footie pajamas are driving him crazy because he can’t pull them off his feet. It’s pretty hilarious to watch!

October 27- Cody’s wheezing and coughing sounds so pitiful. I feel so bad for him! We’re having a long day of snuggling on the couch in pj’s. Hoping he starts to feel better soon!

October 31- Suddenly, Cody is acting more like the big boys and less like a baby. This week he has FINALLY started walking more than crawling and he’s discovered how fun it is to play with cars on the floor.

October 31- The boys have been in bed for about an hour and a half and out of nowhere I hear “Aaaarrrrrr” come from their room. One of them must be having a dream about being a pirate or a dinosaur right now, lol! I love that they talk & laugh in their sleep, it cracks me up!

I’m so glad that Denise was able to watch the younger boys for me so that I could go with Skyler. I love being able to volunteer in his class! It’s fun getting to know his friends and see him enjoying his school experience.

Cody’s 1 Year Check-up

Took this cute boy in for his 12 month check-up only to find out that he was running a 102.8 fever and had a double ear infection but he was still all smiles for the doctor.

No wonder he’s been so clingy lately! This is our first kid to get an ear infection. I’m surprised we made it this long without one!

IMG_20141021_131318

Height 30 inches – 45%

Weight 21 lb 8 oz – 49%

Head 48 cm – 90%

Scrunchy face!

2014-10-21 11.02.04

He was very entertained by this toy.

2014-10-21 11.03.28

Only a week after his 1 year check-up, this little guy came down with a NASTY wheezing cough. He couldn’t sleep unless he was upright so I stayed up on the couch with him all night and let him sleep on me. Then we headed to the doctor first thing in the morning. Turns out that having a double ear infection wasn’t enough, he caught croup on top of that. He just can’t catch a break!

IMG_20141027_102905

Making faces at himself in the mirror kept him pretty entertained while we waited for the doctor to squeeze us in.

IMG_20141027_103337

My first experience with using a nebulizer. It was tricky getting Cody to leave it alone. He didn’t want it on his face but it definitely helped him. 30 minutes sure was a long time to try and wrangle him by myself, though!

2014-10-27 17.39.50

After a couple of days, some steroids for the Croup and some antibiotics for the double ear infection, he was all better. Thank goodness!
